Discussion with Sean Garballey, State Representative: 03/01/10

How best can parents contact our State Representatives about education issues?

Sean Garballey:
cell phone 781-859-7781
office 617-722-2400
Sean.Garballey@state.ma.us
seangarballey@hotmail.com

Our other representatives: (to be added soon)

Which works better to get point across, letter or email?
For Sean, it doesn't matter, he views both equally.
For other representatives, he thinks it varies on the representative, some don't use email as much.

How best can parents keep on top of what is going on with education funding and how they can help influence it?
There doesn't seem to be a clear, easy path. Maybe Stand for Children? Mass Budget and Policy Center?

Stand for Children Massachusetts:

How can the School Committee best support our State Representatives to help fund schools fully?
By acting as a funnel, conveying parent comments and questions, current events, issue oriented information. By working with him. Sean would also be willing to speak at sub-Committee meetings.

Endorsed by the Arlington Advocate:

"The strongest candidate is Allison-Ampe. She has the kind of potential the town has been waiting for--someone who wants to create good working relationships, has the strong analytical skills, wants to learn about and then provide thoughtful insight into the issues staring the committee down."
